Department: LDRP RN - Float *Certifications Required: BLS (Preferred: ACLS, NRP, STABLE)* NO CLINICAL INVOLVEMENT **MUST HAVE 2 YEARS EXPERIENCE & MUST BE EXPERIENCED IN LDRP** **NO HOLIDAY TIME OFF FOR CRISIS NEED** - # of L&D Beds: 15 total- 7 L&D, 8 Postpartum - # of OR Suites on the unit for C-Sections: 1 - # of Births per day? Month? Year?: 58 per month - Do you follow AWHONN guidelines for ratios?: 1:1 for pit, mag, or insulin drips. 1:3 couplet care. - Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Mix. Mainly obstetric/neonates, hypertension, GDM, try not to deliver anyone less than 36 weeks - Experience or 'Must have' skills: able to read and interpret fetal strips, critical thinking, follow quality metrics, previous travel experience, must be able to read strips - will float to Medsurg & ER as needed - Are RNs required to titrate drips?: Yes - Common titratable &/or set rate drips: pitocin, insulin, magnesium - Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift?: Yes - Does the charge nurse on shift take an assignment?: yes - Are there nurse aids/surgical techs on this unit? Duties?: yes, CNA, vitals, help with transfer paperwork, remain at desk when needed due to being a locked unit, help turn, ambulate patients - OB/Neonatologist in house 24/7?: no - Anesthesia in house 24/7?: no - RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, etc.): yes - Are RNs required to do anything with RT Equipment besides trouble shoot?:no - Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit?: no - Are RNs required to read their own strips?: yes - What brand are the tele monitors?:philips - EFM System: traceview/PIP - EMR: Meditech - Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?): 0645-1915, 1845-0715 - Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?: no self scheduling. we allow block scheduling - Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend - Holiday Requirements: Every other holiday - Is there a call or standby requirement?: Depends on staffing - Floating Requirements: Yes - Medsurg, ER. wherever in the hospital the nurse is needed - PERM STAFF IS USUALLY FIRST TO FLOAT - Scrub Color/Dress code: scrub color is maroon, scrubs are provided and RN will change once on the unit into our surgical scrubs - How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation?: 3 shifts - Additional Notes: Attributes that help make a nurse successful on this unit include adaptive to change, good critical thinker, communicate Radius Rule: 50 miles AND candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity. RTO needed upfront (7 or less days per 13 week contract). Additional RTO will not be approved, including after submissions.
