Job Title: Special Education Teacher Location: Somersworth, NH Employment Type: Full-Time/Part-Time Job Description: Somersworth School District is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our team. The Special Education Teacher will work with students with varying disabilities, providing specialized instruction designed to help students reach their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally. The teacher will work closely with parents, other educators, and support staff to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment. Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) based on the specific needs of students with disabilities. Modify curriculum and adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs. Provide direct instruction to students in both small group and one-on-one settings. Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and parents to support student progress and create inclusive learning opportunities. Monitor student performance and adjust instructional strategies to ensure progress toward IEP goals. Participate in IEP meetings and maintain compliance with federal and state special education regulations. Use assistive technology and a variety of instructional tools to enhance student learning. Foster a positive and supportive learning environment that promotes student engagement and growth. Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with special education best practices and strategies. Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or related field. Valid New Hampshire Special Education teaching certification. Experience working with students with disabilities, preferred but not required. Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
