Job Description: Registered Nurse (RN) - Cardiac Med/Surg Unit Department: Medical-Surgical Unit Job Duties: As a member of the interdisciplinary team, the RN contributes professional nursing knowledge and skills in the provision and management of patient care through the application of the nursing process. Essential Functions: Promotes evidence-based practice through the nursing process, protocols, and procedures. Assesses patient status through interviews, observations, and physical assessments of actual problems and outcomes. Develops an individualized care plan using a collaborative approach with the patient, family, and healthcare team. Uses appropriate interventions identified in the care plan to achieve expected patient outcomes. Systematically evaluates and documents patient progress towards expected outcomes/goals throughout the shift. Modifies the care plan based on ongoing evaluation. Completes required documentation, including patient charts and event reports, as appropriate. Demonstrates professional accountability by seeking resources and pursuing continuous self-development. Demonstrates technical knowledge of equipment and troubleshoots issues when necessary. Acquires and maintains current knowledge and skills in evidence-based nursing practice. Promotes professional development of self and team members. Shares clinical knowledge through teaching and responds to the learning needs of others. Demonstrates problem-solving skills in patient moving and handling issues (if applicable). Ensures patient and staff safety through the appropriate use of lift equipment (if applicable). Required Skills & Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience. Preferred Education: -BSN Required Certifications & Licensure: -Illinois state RN license in good standing -BLS (American Heart Assoc.)
