Job Title: Special Education Teacher Location: Red Wing, MN Job Type: Full-Time Position Overview: The Red Wing School District is seeking a passionate and qualified Special Education Teacher to provide high-quality instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs. The teacher will develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure that all students achieve their full academic potential in a supportive and inclusive learning environment. Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to students’ unique needs and abilities. Provide direct instruction to students in both individual and small group settings. Modify curriculum and adapt instructional strategies to meet the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of students. Work closely with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and other school staff to support inclusion and collaboration in the classroom. Monitor and document student progress, making adjustments to teaching methods as necessary. Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and staff meetings to discuss student progress and set future goals. Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about student progress and strategies for support at home. Create a safe and positive classroom environment that fosters academic growth and social-emotional development. Stay current with best practices in special education, including techniques for behavior management, assistive technology, and differentiated instruction. Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or a related field. Valid Minnesota teaching license with a certification in Special Education. Experience working with students with a range of disabilities preferred. Strong understanding of special education laws, including IDEA and Section 504. Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. Ability to create and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and staff. Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
