Job Title: Special Education (SPED) Teacher Location: Worcester, MA Job Type: Full-Time Position Overview: The Worcester School District is seeking a dedicated and skilled Special Education (SPED) Teacher to provide individualized instruction and support to students with special needs. The SPED Teacher will be responsible for creating and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and collaborating with staff, students, and families to ensure each student's academic, social, and emotional development is supported in an inclusive learning environment. Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to meet the specific needs of each student. Provide direct instruction and interventions to students with a range of disabilities, including learning, behavioral, emotional, and developmental challenges. Adapt and modify curriculum and teaching strategies to ensure accessibility for all students. Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and specialists to support student success in the classroom. Monitor and document student progress, adjusting instructional methods as needed to help students meet their goals. Participate in IEP meetings and maintain open communication with parents, caregivers, and support staff. Create a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment that promotes the social, emotional, and academic growth of all students. Stay informed about special education laws, research, and best practices to ensure compliance and continuous improvement. Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or a related field. Valid Massachusetts teaching license with Special Education certification. Experience working with students with special needs in an educational setting is preferred. Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation. Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. Ability to work as part of a team and foster relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
