Location: Chesapeake, Virginia
Facility: Chesapeake Regional Medical Center
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (with possible extension)

Job Description

Chesapeake is situated in the scenic area of Coastal Virginia, just minutes from Virginia Beach and Norfolk. The city offers numerous outdoor activities, including hiking trails and waterways.

Position Details

  • Unit: 6W MedSurg Tele/Neuro/Stroke RN
  • Shift: Nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM); includes weekdays, every other weekend, floating, and holidays within the contract.
  • Patient Ratios: 1:7

Requirements

  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required.
    • Travel experience is required.
  • Licensure:
    • Compact or Virginia nursing license in hand (no exceptions).
  • Skills:
    • Proficient in EPIC.
    • IV Start and Telemetry Interpretation.
    • Experience with neurology/stroke patients.

Additional Information

  • Work Schedule: 3x12 or 4x12 shifts (overtime after 48 hours).
  • Documentation Required:
    • Qualivis Cover Sheet and current NURSYS report.
    • All requests for time off (RTO) must be included on the Qualivis Cover Sheet.

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Vaccinations:
    • Flu vaccination required during the flu season.
    • COVID-19 vaccination is strongly recommended.
  • Health Documents:
    • Physical exam within the last year.
    • Fit test for N95 masks within the last year.
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within the last year.

Background and History Checks

  • 7-year criminal background check required.
  • Proof of 2 references required.
  • Employment application and unit-specific skills checklist are mandatory.

Additional Certifications and Competencies

  • Various certifications may be required based on the unit, including:
    • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
    • EKG/Medication competency testing
    • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
