Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) in Labor and Delivery is responsible for delivering safe patient care through the nursing process, which includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Key responsibilities include:

• Providing direct patient care within the scope of practice.
• Directing and guiding patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel.
• Maintaining standards of care in the Birthplace.
• Responding quickly and accurately to changes in patient condition and treatment response.
• Ensuring a safe environment for patients and visitors.

Required Qualifications

1. Current and valid state RN License
2. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
3. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
4. Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
5. Fetal monitoring experience
6. COVID-19 vaccination/boosters preferred

Additional Credentials Required for Onboarding

• License/Certificate Verification: Primary source verification of professional license and/or certification.
• Drug Screening: Minimum 10-panel drug test.
• Physical/Health Statement: Must be completed annually.
• Criminal Background Check: National check within one year of start date.
• Competency Exams: Must score 80% or higher on various competency exams.
• Professional Documents: Includes resume, references, and job description acknowledgment.

Health History Requirements

• Vaccinations:

  • COVID-19 (2 vaccines and booster required)
  • MMR (Proof of 2 vaccines or positive titer)
  • Hepatitis B (Declinations not accepted at certain facilities)
  • Influenza (Vaccine or declination required during flu season)
  • Varicella (Vaccination/titer showing immunity)
  • Tdap (Declinations not accepted at certain facilities)
  • TB Test (Required)
• Fit Test: Annual respirator fit test.

Additional Information

• Must utilize the chain of command when necessary to ensure patient well-being.
• Must maintain compliance with all required credentials and health history documentation.
