Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) will be a key member of the Clinical Transplant Services team, responsible for:

  • Acting as a liaison between patients and the transplant team (physicians, social workers, financial counselors, psychiatrists, etc.).
  • Providing direct and indirect professional nursing care for patients.
  • Screening and educating potential transplant recipients.
  • Managing the evaluation process and waiting list.
  • Conducting patient/family education in various settings.
  • Collecting and evaluating patient laboratory testing and diagnostic procedures.
  • Providing post-transplant cross coverage for essential functions.
  • Developing and implementing care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.

Schedule

  • Shifts: 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts from 08:30 AM to 04:30 PM.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Licensure: Current Oregon RN license.
  • Certifications:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years in acute-care hospital nursing.
  • Skills: Ability to triage and prioritize patient issues using critical thinking skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience in adult care nursing.
  • Transplant nursing experience (inpatient or outpatient).
  • Certification as a Clinical Transplant Coordinator.

Additional Information

  • A valid government-issued photo ID is required on the first day to obtain an OHSU ID badge.
  • Compliance with various certifications and training modules is required prior to starting.
  • Candidates must be fully available for compliance needs up until their start date.

Certifications and Training Requirements

  • ACLS: Advanced Cardiac Life Support
  • BLS: Basic Life Support
  • PALS: Pediatric Advanced Life Support
  • NRP: Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure
  • NIH Stroke Certification: Required for specific units.
  • Fit Testing: Required for mask compliance.
  • Vaccinations: Compliance with flu and COVID-19 vaccination policies.

Background Check and Documentation

  • A background check is required within 6 months prior to start.
  • Employment application must include at least 7 years of work history.
  • Two manager or supervisor references from the last 24 months are required.
