Job Description

• Unit: 4E PCU/MedSurg (Mix Acuity Unit)
• Shift: 4x12's
• Patient Ratios: 1:5
• Experience Required: 18 months
• First Timers Accepted: Yes
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• On-Call Requirement: No
• Floating Requirement: Yes, within scope to meet facility needs
• Local Candidates: Not accepted
• Pending License: Not accepted; IN-STATE LICENSE and REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS must be in hand to submit

Special Requirements

• Certifications Required:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BCLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (preferred)
• Preferred Skills:

  • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Post cardiac surgery care
  • Arterial line management
  • Blood product administration
  • Central line care/management
  • PICC line management
  • Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
  • Experience with Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump, Pre/Post Cardiac Cath/intervention, Sheath Removal, Ventricular Assist Devices (LVAD/RVAD/Impella)
  • Care of ventilated patients and ventilator management
  • Previous charge experience is preferred

• Patient Diagnoses: CV Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, Cardiology, Endocrine, Oncology
• Special Procedures: CVICU with a focus on cardiovascular and oncology patients
• Special Equipment: All private rooms with overhead lifts, Telemetry

Additional Information

• Holiday Requirement: Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Guaranteed Hours:

  • 8 and 10 hr. shifts - 40 hrs. in one workweek
  • 3, 12 hr. shifts - 36 hrs. in one workweek
  • 4, 12 hr. shifts - 48 hrs. in one workweek

Health and Compliance Requirements

• Drug Testing: Negative 10 Panel Drug Screen within 12 months
• Vaccinations:

  • Flu vaccination required for the flu season
  • Proof of immunizations for Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, and Varicella
• TB Testing: Tuberculin Skin Test (PPD), QuantiFERON-TB Gold, or T-SPOT within 1 year
• Background Check: Required within 90 days of start
• References: Minimum of 2 references from recent employment required
