Job Description

Key Responsibilities

1. Assessment Skills

   • Competent knowledge of growth and development stages from Pediatric to Geriatric.
   • Performs thorough, systematic, and accurate assessments.

2. Clinical Skills

   • Demonstrates competent clinical skills and provides direct patient care.
   • Knowledgeable in emergency equipment and procedures.

3. Documentation

   • Maintains complete and accurate documentation.
   • Responsible for documenting nursing processes and patient progress.

4. Professionalism

   • Demonstrates professional practice responsibility and knowledge of policies.
   • Identifies areas for clinical and professional growth.

5. Patient Satisfaction

   • Responds professionally to patients, families, and co-workers.
   • Promotes a patient-centered environment and maintains confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines.

   • Follows National Patient Safety Goals and Universal Protocol.
   • Utilizes safe transfer techniques and proper body mechanics.

7. Unit Specific Job Function

   • Knowledgeable about conditions, procedures, and equipment for surgical patients.
   • Individualizes patient care based on procedures and anesthesia types.

8. Responsibility and Accountability

   • Directs patient care by prioritizing based on patient needs and condition changes.

9. Patient Education and Chart Completion

   • Assesses patient understanding of surgical procedures and includes family in teaching.
   • Conducts pre-operative and postoperative assessments and education.

10. Duties Specific to PAT RN

    • Supports timely completion of patient testing and evaluates PAT orders for appropriateness.

Physical Requirements

• As defined by Occupational Safety/OMS.

Additional Information

• Experience Required: 1 year in Critical Care/Cardiac or Emergency Department.
• Certifications Required:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - Required for pediatric ER only.
