Job Description
The Clinical Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse responsible for providing safe, competent quality care based on nursing theory and research to a designated group of patients and their significant others.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Patient Care
- Deliver patient care using the professional practice model of Relationship Centered Care.
- Assess and evaluate patient care needs, applying critical thinking skills.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to develop and implement care plans.
- Educate patients and caregivers about their care plans and health promotion.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
Patient Experience
- Model the tenets of Mount Sinai Relationship Centered Care.
- Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
- Initiate service recovery for patients and families with concerns.
- Conduct purposeful hourly rounding on assigned patients.
Quality and Safety
- Practice safe, patient-centered care and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with teams to implement quality improvement projects and evidence-based practices.
- Document nursing practice to support quality and performance improvement initiatives.
Operations
- Perform charge nurse duties as assigned.
- Coordinate with management to ensure adequate supplies and staffing.
- Document care accurately and thoroughly.
Professional Development
- Contribute to a supportive environment for clinical colleagues and patients.
- Advance clinical competence and participate in shared decision-making.
- Encourage lifelong learning and innovation in nursing practice.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Licensure: NYS RN License
- Certifications: BLS
- Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of RN experience in a medical setting.
- 1 year of travel experience preferred for travel positions.
- Technical Skills: EPIC experience highly preferred.
