POSITION TITLE: Cardiac Sonographer Registered
DEPARTMENT: Echo Lab Echocardiography
POSITION SUMMARY: Performs diagnostic echocardiograms on adults and pediatric patients.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent. Two year allied health education program that is patient care related.Allied health occupations include but are not limited to: diagnostic medical sonographer radiologic technologist respiratory therapist occupational therapist physical therapist and/or registered nurse preferred.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: A.R.D.M.S./CCI registered or registry eligible or comparable national accreditation required.State of New Mexico Echo Sonographer License. BLS certification issued through American Heart Association within six months of hire.
SKILLS: Ability to communicate effectivelyDemonstrates strong organizational skillsAbility to work collaboratively with others from a variety of disciplinesAbility to work at a rapid pace under stressful conditionsManual dexterity to perform echocardiograms.
EXPERIENCE: Two years of actively doing echocardiograms preferred.
NATURE OF SUPERVISION:
-Responsible to: Director of Cardiovascular Services
ENVIRONMENT:
- Bloodborne pathogen C
May be exposed to physical injury infectious diseases and airborne and blood borne pathogens. Requires knowledge of safety standards to limit exposure to infectious diseases.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Lifting patients pushing heavy equipment beds and carts.

Licenses/Certifications: CPR/BLS (Basic Life Support)
