NURSE MANAGER: DIVERSIONARY SERVICES. THIS IS A "FLOAT" POSITION BETWEEN ANDREW HOUSE OF BOSTON AND THE MARISOL HEALING CENTER OF BOSTON. Andrew House for individuals identifying as men and Marisol House for individuals identifying as women. Both locations at the same address.
Job Summary: As a member of the leadership team for Diversionary Services, the Nurse Manager ensures 24/7 nursing coverage to support medication compliance and the monitoring of symptoms, provides supervision and oversight to the nurses, and ensures compliance to DEA, DPH/BSAS regulations and certification standards. The Nurse Manager contributes to the Bay Cove’s mission by ensuring the health, safety, and quality care are afforded to patients of the programs while they are on their recovery journey.
Reports to: Program Director (Administrative) and Chief Nursing Officer (Nursing)
Supervisory Responsibilities: All Full-Time, Part-Time and Per Diem Nurses, as well as Agency Nursing Staff. Serves as a supervisory resource to unit staff in the absence of the Program Director, Assistant Program Director, Clinical Director and Assistant Clinical Director

Andrew House is a non-profit treatment facility located in Jamaica Plain, MA. Andrew House specializes in withdrawal management services through the treatment of short-term detoxification from alcohol, benzodiazepines, heroin, and other opiates. The Mirasol Center for Healing (MCH) is an innovative, trauma-responsive program for adults who identify as female, who struggle with the challenges associated with substance use disorder (SUD) and homelessness. The MCH offers its services in a tranquil space, where women can access the help they need to thrive. The MCH’s staff serve all women in a respectful, compassionate manner, and each guest partners with the program staff to prioritize their needs during their stay and beyond. Our program’s vision is to save lives by providing a safe place to stay and supports that range from acute SUD and stabilization services, to holistic therapies, to connection with more advanced services that will support each woman’s healing and recovery journey. Core services will be provided through a multidisciplinary team—including nursing, medical/psychiatry, clinical therapy, case management, and peer recovery navigation—in collaboration between Bay Cove and partners including the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the City of Boston, and Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program, to provide ongoing outreach, support, and transportation to The Mirasol Center. The Mirasol Center looks to engage with guests to set goals designed to maximize their personal safety, and to help them take steps towards recovery and permanent housing when they are ready to do so. The program celebrates each woman’s inherent strengths and any changes they might make to improve their quality of life.
Essential Functions of Position (including but not limited to):
- Recruit, build, and maintain a team of talented nurses and schedule nurses to ensure on-site 24/7 nursing coverage to support medication compliance and monitoring of symptoms.
- Manage all nursing operations, including the provision of quality of patient care.
- Participate in the training of unit staff regarding changes and updates of medical aspects of substance use, withdrawal management, and behavioral health diagnoses as they might affect patients and train all Nurses on all nursing policies, procedures, and practices ensure competency.
- Collaborate with the Chief Nursing Officer, Medical Director, Psych Consultant, program leadership, and the Director of Operations to develop and revise policies, procedures, and clinical protocols for care of patients.
- Lead the nursing staff to work collaboratively with clinical and direct care staff to support the daily physical and health care needs of patients in the program and seamless transition to the next level of care.
- Monitor compliance with nursing and medication budget, including staffing, scheduling, productivity analysis, and supply costs.
- Participate in staff, supervision, and multidisciplinary meetings as well as in individual and group supervision, training, and professional development activities.
- Oversee the nurses’ responsibilities in utilization review and work collaboratively with the Billing Assistant and insurance reviewers in utilization review procedures.
- Adhere to DEA and all state and federal regulations regarding the use of controlled substances in the program and be available for DEA and State representatives during site visits and other licensing or accreditation bodies.
- Provide crisis assessment, prevention, and needed intervention during scheduled hours and while on-call in nights and weekends as scheduled by providing on-call coverage on a rotating basis.

- All BSAS licensed programs must have at least one staff member designated to serve as coordinator of one of the following three topics. If assigned, both supervisor and employee must initial to acknowledge the assignment:
- Serve as the program’s Access Coordinator by developing and implementing the evaluation, plan, and annual review of the program’s performance in ensuring equitable access to services as required by 105 CMR 164.040(A)(11).
- Serve as the program’s HIV/AIDS Coordinator by overseeing confidential HIV risk assessment and access to counseling and testing; staff, patient, and resident HIV/AIDS and hepatitis education; and Department requirements for admission, service planning and discharge of HIV
- Serve as the program’s Tobacco Education Coordinator by assisting staff in implementing BSAS guidelines for integrating tobacco assessment, education and treatment into program services.
