Description

Paramedic PRN Days Position Summary
The Paramedic functions semi-independently, under the direction of the Transfer RN, as integral part of the transfer team. Responsible for overflow calls that consist of patient intake calls, transport set up, acquiring bed assignment and ER outbound calls, data entry, faxing, discharge follow up, reporting, projects that impact and improve transfer center process and patient flow. Facilitate transfers, transport and provide reporting in an accurate and timely manner. Knowledge and necessary communications skills will be utilized to effectively meet the needs of transferring patients of all age groups and developmental levels.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Must possess ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within the transfer center and any community outreach. Communication skills, hearing, multitasking Requires the ability to effectively plan; must be able to follow directions and to perform work according to department standards when no directions are given. Requires enthusiasm, initiative and the ability to work independently/cooperatively with other personnel. Requires the ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple demands/deadlines. Must be emotionally mature and able to function effectively under stress.
SPECIAL SKILLS: Must be able to read, write, follow instructions and document care given in English. Must have knowledge and understanding of the entire aging process.
THE PARAMEDIC PRN DAYS CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING EDUCATION, LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE.
MINIMUM EDUCATION: Graduate of an EMT-P training course approved under Arizona 9 A.A.C. 25, Articles 2, 4, and 5 are required. Triage course must be completed prior to 6 months and prior to taking the triage assignment.
PREFERRED EDUCATION: Associate Degree, Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in pre-hospital/emergency medical service, CCEMT-P
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Previous work experience in an Emergency Room.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE:ADHS Paramedic Certification or Arizona State Certified, BLS and ACLS. PALS within 9 months of hire.
REQUIRED COURSE(S) TRAINING: Knowledge of the principles of growth and development and the ability to assess data and identify patients' age-specific requirements and provide age-appropriate care is required. Splinting, EKG and Chest Tube competencies, as well as all other department check off lists must be completed within three months of hire. Triage course must be completed prior to 6 months and prior to taking the triage assignment.
PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/REGISTRATION: Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Basic and Advanced Trauma Life Support. National Licensure by the NREMT Board.
