Overview
Job Summary
Plans, organizes and directs the activities of the Emergency Management and Continuity Planning to ensure the facilities and business units have emergency operations, continuity or operations and communications plans. Leads the development, implementation and monitoring of the Emergency Management program to assess risk, minimize loss and to protect the assets of patients, visitors, physicians and employees. Oversees the synthesis and organization of Emergency Management operations, aggregate reporting and operational improvement initiatives across the Primary Enterprise.
Essential Functions
- Directs the corporate level strategies and policies for preparedness, response, recovery and mitigation.
- Leads the development, implementation and monitoring of the Emergency Management Program to ensure compliance with The Joint Commission, Division of Health Service Regulation, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, National Incident Management System, and related standards.
- Revamps and redesigns processes, leads operational improvements, reengineers underperforming areas, increases communication and accountability, and creates consistency across the Primary Enterprise.
- Ensures the development of disaster recovery plans and development of strategies for business continuity.
- Develops and oversees the implementation of programs to educate and raise awareness of Emergency Management and Continuity issues, guidelines, and procedures.
- Performs emergency management support activities using the National Incident Management System (NIMS) model and conducts appropriate exercises.
- Chairs the Emergency Management Committee. Participates as a member of the Enterprise Risk Management Core Team. Chairs the Information Services Enterprise Risk Management Committee and reports progress to the Canopy Security Committee.
- Manages departmental staff including handling all personnel and disciplinary requirements.
- Prepares and manages annual budgets. Develops and administers departmental budget.
- Leads project teams consisting of a wide range of personnel in all facets of emergency management.
Works primarily in an office setting. Major activities require sitting, walking, and the use of personal computer and telephone. Site assessments and investigative work may require access to any part of the System. Will travel to other facilities, which requires driving and walking. Must be able to carry 5 to 20 pounds of materials. Personal protective equipment such as gloves, goggles, gowns and masks are sometimes required due to possible exposure to hazardous chemicals or blood and body fluids.
