Centra Healthcare Solutions is seeking an experienced Special Education Teacher (SPED) that is certified in the state of practice to work in a school setting. This is a contract, full time position.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

• Curriculum planning and execution.
• Develop and implement appropriate IEPs for each special needs student in the class.
• Continuously assess students' performance and identify remediation needs.
• Document and track student progress using daily goal sheets.
• Supervise Teacher Assistants during instructional time to ensure effective support for students.
• Participate in CPSE and CSE meetings as required by program needs.
• Adhere to federal, state, and local regulations and licensing requirements.
• Develop a schedule and environment that aligns with the needs of the children in the class and promotes best practices in early childhood education.
• Educates and communicates with parents to promote understanding of their child’s disability, and usage of specific instructional programs to meet the learning needs of their child.
• Participates in development in development and implementation of Individualized Education Plans.
• Perform any and all other such duties as may be deemed necessary for the safe, efficient and effective operation of the agency.

Requirements include:

• New York State Certification in Early Childhood Special Education or BA/MA in Special Education.
• Eligibility for NYS Supplemental Certification in Special Education.
• Proficiency in developing and implementing IEPs, including setting goals, selecting appropriate instructional methods, and monitoring progress. Familiarity with the legal requirements and documentation processes associated with IEPs.
• Ability to adapt and modify instructional materials, methods, and assessments to meet the diverse learning styles and abilities of students.
• Strong behavior management skills to create a positive and structured classroom environment. Ability to implement effective behavior management strategies, promote positive behavior, and de-escalate challenging situations.
• Excellent collaboration skills and ability to actively participate in team meetings, contribute insights, and collaborate on student interventions and support plans.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to provide clear and concise instructions, write progress reports, and facilitate effective parent-teacher communication.
• Proficiency in utilizing educational technology tools and software to enhance instruction, engage students, and differentiate learning. Skill in leveraging assistive technology devices and resources to support students with disabilities.
• Strong problem-solving skills to identify barriers to learning, develop creative solutions, and implement interventions to address academic, behavioral, and social-emotional challenges.
