Centra Healthcare Solutions is seeking an experienced Special Education Teacher (SPED) that is certified in the state of practice to work in a school setting. This is a contract, full time position.

Overview:

• The Teacher is responsible for the academic teaching and behavioral management of assigned elementary or middle school students, and for achieving the goals and objectives of the student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP/DPG) and curricular objectives consistent with the standards set forth by the State of Maryland , OSSE, or other funding sources.
• The teacher is responsible for effectively communicating with students, and creating an appropriate learning environment in a classroom setting.
• The teacher monitors, evaluates, and reports on students’ progress, attends and participates in meetings, and works with other members of the school.
• The Teacher shall support and maintain the highest professional standards consistent with the objectives and procedures of the company.

Requirements include:

• Need to have or be eligible for MD license.
• Must have mastery of the content area. 
• Must possess general knowledge of normal human growth and development.
• Must possess appropriate skill set to effectively interact with students who have learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities, other health impairments and/or autism and be able to motivate them to make academic progress.  
• Must possess analytical abilities sufficient to implement and develop curriculum, assess student abilities, and devise Individual Educational Plans for courses taught, as well as to create the learning environment of the classroom.
