Description
Centra Healthcare Solutions is seeking an experienced Special Education Teacher (SPED) that is certified in the state of practice to work in a school setting.
- This is a contract, full time position. Hours are expected to be 8:00am-3:15pm.
Duties and Responsibilities Include:
- Provide direct instruction in a classroom setting while embedding visual efficiency skills by following the school’s curricula.
- Assist in the scheduling of homeroom, academic, and special classes.
- Develop lesson plans and activities based on common core standards addressed within academic activities for academic and social growth.
- Evaluate and assess the academic and social skills of students.
- Facilitate the development of the IEP for students assigned to their classroom. Seek input from team members including parents.
- Report progress to parents and CSE’s.
- Collect, analyze and report using data collection processes, including behavior data.
- Attend and/or facilitate staff and in-service meetings as appropriate.
- Work collaboratively with team members to effectively support all students in program assignments.
- Must be competent and proficient with current technological methods and must have excellent communication, organizational and facilitation skills.
Requirements include:
- PA Certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired required.
- M.Ed. preferred; dual certification is a plus (TVI/COMS).
- Knowledge of educating students with multiple disabilities, including visual impairment.
- Must be able to lift, push, or pull-up to 25 lbs.
- Clearances for Acts 34 (PA Criminal), 114 (FBI) and 151 (Child Abuse) are required.
