Centra Healthcare Solutions is seeking an experienced Special Education Teacher (SPED) that is certified in the state of practice to work in a school setting. This is a contract, full time position.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

• Collaborates with the student’s IEP team to develop and implement the student’s IEP
• Uses assessment/baseline data to develop vigorously appropriate IEPs goals as needed
• Participates in all required meetings and completes all required sections of the IEP process
• Providing direct individual, small group and/or large group instruction to address students’ IEP goals/objectives and exit skills
• Preparing data driven differentiated cognitively demanding lessons, assignments, and enrichment activities aligned with Elim’s approved curriculum guided by student needs
• Establishing and maintaining a healthy and productive learning environment and classroom culture in which all students and staff are respected
• Provides guidance, direction, and feedback to assigned classroom staff to promote student success and independence
• Provide students, families, districts, and program staff with relevant and timely data, including monitoring and reporting students’ progress and how data is used to drive instruction
• Implements all facets of each student’s IEP
• Utilizes specialized adapted equipment to allow students to access their education and to foster independence
• Adjusts schedule to meet the needs of clients and students
• Participates in culture of professional inquiry
• Prepares and implements instruction in the absence of the teacher
• Collaborate with the teacher to implement scheduled program activities.
• Creates, assembles, and adapts learning materials to students’ needs
• Assists in maintaining order and supervises students in the classroom, on approved community outings and on the school grounds
• Assists students with personal care needs including toileting, feeding, showering, and dressing

Requirements include:

• Bachelor's Degree.
• Valid IL substitute teaching license.
• Previous experience in a special education setting and teaching are preferred, but not required.
