Job Title: RN Telemetry
Location: Texarkana, TX
Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: 7 PM – 7 AM (Nights)
Summary
The competent Registered Nurse in the Telemetry unit practices independently and demonstrates a comprehensive awareness of patient care needs in a clinical setting. Provides routine and complex nursing care with a focus on achieving long-term goals and managing contingencies. Exhibits strong delegation skills, making appropriate assignments to other healthcare providers to ensure efficient management of clinical situations.
Responsibilities

Deliver nursing care consistent with the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, utilizing the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation) for assigned patients.

Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.

Administer medications and treatments using the appropriate protocols; monitor side effects and treatment effectiveness.

Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided accurately.

Assess learning needs and educate patients, family members, and caregivers on health conditions, treatments, and resources.

Train and coach team members on order accuracy and validation techniques.
Standard III: Unit Operations

Supervise overall nursing care and functions during assigned shifts.

Maintain proper use and functionality of medical equipment and supplies.

Assess and support staffing needs to ensure adequate coverage.

Educate staff on industry ethics, operations, and regulatory compliance.
Standard IV: Safe Practice/Quality Care/Regulations

Incorporate safety practices to create a secure care environment.

Participate in research and quality improvement initiatives.

Deliver evidence-based nursing care.

Ensure effective communication of patient information across the care continuum.

Accurately process and validate medical orders.

Differentiate between standing and preprinted orders, ensuring compliance with protocols.
Patient Chart Reading and Interpretation

Review and interpret patient charts for accuracy and completeness.

Recognize and report unexpected readings or errors.
Patient Safety

Apply safety protocols to prevent harm.

Recognize and address signs of physical and psychological distress.

Document incidents and participate in real-time investigations.
Job Requirements
Education/Skills
-
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (preferred).
Experience
-
1 year of experience in telemetry or a related nursing specialty (preferred).
Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications
-
BLS certification (required).
-
RN License (valid in state of employment or compact).
Work Schedule
7 PM – 7 AM (Night Shifts).
Work Type
Full-Time.
