Job Title: Surgical Tech

Shift
Most likely will work 4-10hr shifts (0 or 0), depending on dept needs. NO BLOCK SCHEDULING allowed. Will work 8hr shifts OR take call every 3rd weekend in main OR primarily to do Ortho cases but may also do general surgery cases. Call hours include: 0, 1, and 2. MUST arrive within 30 minutes of receiving the call to come in. Required to work an 8-hour shift or take call for 1 Summer holiday and 1 Winter holiday (call hours for holidays are the same as listed above).

You will be required to work one 8 hours shift every 3rd weekend. You will be required to take 16 hours of call every 3rd weekend. This weekend call is at the main OR primarily to do ortho cases but may need to do general surgery cases as well. This is a rotation based on your weekend team assignment.
The weekend working and call hours may include the following times:

• 7:00am - 3:30pm,
• 3:00pm - 11:30pm
• 11:00pm - 7:00am

Required to work an 8-hour shift and/or take call for 1 summer holiday and 1 winter holiday. This is a rotation based on the weekend team assignment.
Call hours for holidays are the same as listed above.
*Weekend shifts for call hours begin 1730 Friday until 0700 Monday. Shifts are the same as listed above.

Required to cover up to 8 hours of "late call” after your shift to finish cases. Will be required to take one L1, one L2 and one L3 per week. (Late call tiering system)
A requirement of taking call, MUST arrive within 30 minutes of receiving the call to come in.
Systems used: Client, Synthes, Arthrex, Biomet, Client, Tornir, Stryker, Max, DJO, Rosa Robot


Summary:

• Procedural Technicians function in both non-sterile and sterile capacities by creating an optimal environment for the procedural patient. Procedural Technicians possess expertise in the theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique and combine the knowledge of human anatomy, procedures, and implementation tools and technologies to facilitate invasive, therapeutic, and / or diagnostic procedures. Procedural Technicians perform a wide range of duties including but not limited to aseptic technique, sterile technique, scrubbing, decontamination, and sterilization.

Responsibilities:

• Maintains competency to scrub procedures:
• Practices aseptic technique, sterile technique, and maintains universal precautions.
• Maintains and acquires knowledge of instruments including identification and proper use and appropriate decontamination / sterilization.
• Practices under the direct supervision of the procedural team and within the scope of practice of a Procedural Technician.
• Age-Specific Knowledge & Skills – Possesses the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to meet patients' physical, psychological and social needs with those growth and development levels/patient populations served within the department.
• Teamwork: Consults and collaborates with colleagues to improve the quality, effectiveness, and efficiency of patient care.
• Education: The Procedural Technician demonstrates a commitment to lifelong learning through self-identification of learning needs, by participating in ongoing educational activities, and by seeking experiences that reflect current practice in order to maintain skills and competence. The Procedural Technician maintains his or her own records that provide evidence of competency and lifelong learning.
• Other duties and projects as assigned.

Credentials:

• C-CCORT or CST or SURGTECH (Required)
• A high school diploma or equivalent.
• BLS certification.
• One year of Ortho Operating Room scrub experience.
