Description

Job Overview: CVICU RN (CTICU Tower 4)

Location

  • City: Phoenix, Arizona
  • Facility: St Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center
  • Unit: CTICU/CVICU
  • Number of Beds: 24

Job Requirements

  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 2 years of CORE experience in specialty.
    • Level I Trauma and Teaching experience required.
    • Previous travel experience required for ED and Neuro ICU.
    • Must have Level I trauma experience.
  • Certifications:

    • BLS and ACLS required; CCRN preferred.
  • EMR Experience:

    • Cerner EMR experience required.
  • Skills:

    • Strong IV skills required.
    • Competency in sterile field maintenance is essential.
  • Exams:

    • Prophecy Dysrhythmia Exam required 24-48 hours prior to acceptance.
    • Day 1 Pass/Fail Exam in SIMs Lab for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes.

Work Schedule

  • Contract Length: Minimum of 13 weeks.
  • Shifts: 7 PM to 7 AM.
  • Weekend Requirement: 3 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule.
  • Holidays: Work into rotation.

Patient Care

  • Ratios: 1:1-2, with a high number of 1:1 assignments.
  • Common Diagnoses: Cardiac surgery recovery, IABP, CRRT, lung transplant, thoracic surgeries, and more.
  • Additional Notes: High acuity unit with a significant number of bedside procedures.

Additional Information

  • Orientation: 2 days on the floor.
  • Floating: Travelers will float to other ICUs and Tele units as needed.
  • Teaching Hospital: Nursing students may be present; the facility is associated with the Barrow Neuro Institute.

Dress Code

  • Scrub Color: Navy

Other Notes

  • Candidates cannot work another assignment while employed at Dignity AZ.
  • Must have been away from CommonSpirit for 12 months as permanent staff to be considered for a travel assignment.
  • No facial piercings and only natural hair colors allowed.

If you get cancelled for low census, your food and housing stipend will not be paid for that shift and will be deducted from your paycheck, so if you work somewhere with low census you may want to look into an agency that doesn't do this.
