General Description

Under general supervision, the RN provides nursing care in a hospital setting to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex.

Essential Responsibilities

• Assume responsibility for an assigned group of patients.
• Document patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments; note all changes in physician orders for assigned patients.
• Assist physicians in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatments.
• Obtain and monitor physiological data of patients; observe physiological manifestations and intervene when necessary.
• Administer medications as prescribed; initiate, regulate, and monitor intravenous infusions and blood products.
• Deliver patient care competently.
• Interact with family and patients to share care plans during hospitalization and at discharge.
• Inform patients and families of hospital procedures.
• Make referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel.
• Delegate tasks to support staff.

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum of 1 year of experience.
• Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures.
• Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques.
• Ability to maintain good working relationships with other employees.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors.
• Basic computer skills.
