Requirements

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of recent ER/Trauma Level 1 experience within the past year.
• Certifications:

  • Active BLS
  • ACLS
  • ATCN or TNCC
  • PALS or ENPC
• Licensure: Active Arizona license or compact license.
• Exams: Must pass a dysrhythmia exam (2 attempts max) and a PASS/FAIL Sim Lab on the first day of orientation.

Shift Information

• Shift Types:

  • Day/Mid shifts: 7a-7p, 9a-9p, 10a-10p, 11a-11p, 12p-12a, 1p-1a
  • Night shifts: 3p-3a, 5p-5a, 7p-7a
• Weekend Requirement: Minimum of 4 weekend shifts per schedule period; must work 2 of 3 holidays during the holiday season.
• Floating: May float to the sister facility, Mercy Gilbert (7 miles/15 minutes apart).

Patient Care

• Ratios: 1:3-4
• Common Diagnoses/Types of Patients: Trauma, motor vehicle accidents (MVAs), gunshot wounds (GSW), blunt trauma, strokes (CVA), myocardial infarctions (MI), high-risk obstetrics, and pediatric patients (11% of population).

Additional Information

• Orientation: 2-3 days of floor-specific orientation.
• Support Staff: Charge Nurse, Unit Secretary, Nurse Aides, Paramedics, and IV Team available.
• Pharmacy and RT: Available 24/7.
• Telemonitoring: GE Lifepacks monitors.
• Ventilators: Puritan Bennett 840, Draeger, Vision BiPAP, V60s.

Notes

• The facility handles approximately 80,000 visits per year and is a certified chest pain center and stroke center.
