Job Summary

Under general supervision, the Radiologic Technologist specializes in performing computerized tomographic radiological procedures on patients and may also conduct general diagnostic radiology examinations.

Essential Functions

  • Explain examination procedures to patients and prepare them for the examination.
  • Review clinical data and perform appropriate examinations.
  • Prepare procedure rooms and replenish necessary supplies.
  • Analyze anatomical structures, set up equipment, and perform CT scans.
  • Manually control equipment to obtain diagnostic information.
  • Administer intravenous contrast media and monitor patients for reactions.
  • Prepare and set up sterile equipment and assist Radiologists in complex procedures.
  • Ensure radiation protection principles are followed.
  • Resolve image exceptions and ensure high-quality image delivery into PACS.
  • Complete study indexing in the Radiology Information System (RIS).
  • Confirm clinical protocols with Radiologists before performing studies.
  • Maintain documentation in medical records and within the radiology information system.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

  • May encounter contagious patients.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move equipment and patients exceeding 10 lbs.
