Job Overview: Respiratory Therapy Position
Location
- City: Rapid City, South Dakota
- Facility: Rapid City Hospital (Monument Health)
- Beds: 260-280
Job Description
- Patient Types:
- Pediatric Critical Care
- Neonatal Critical Care
- General inpatient respiratory care
- NICU Care: Must be prepared to care for NICU patients if required; NRP certification is necessary.
Required Certifications
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) is required; CRT may be considered based on experience.
- South Dakota RCP License (must be obtained prior to submission; processing takes approximately 30 days).
- BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications are required. NRP is required if working in NICU.
Required Education
- Degree: Associate's Degree (AA)
Skills Required
- Experience in Critical Care and General Respiratory Care.
Support on the Unit
- Charge RT/Respiratory Clinical Specialist available 24/7.
- Supervisors, Manager, and Director support.
Charting System
- EPIC (required)
- Omnicell
Equipment Used
- Ventilators: Draeger V500, Savina 300, 3100A Oscillator, Hamilton C1/MRI
- ResMed APAP, CPAP, Bi-level
- Airvo2 High flow devices, Cough Assist, Incourage vest, ABL90 Blood gas machines, IPV, Praxair iNO
Floating
- RT coverage throughout the hospital and ED.
- No floating to other facilities unless specifically hired for that.
Orientation
- Orientation provided at Rapid City Hospital, Respiratory Care Department.
Scheduling
- Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend.
- On-Call Requirements: Varies by facility/job requisition; home health call every other week.
- Holiday Expectations: Work required on holidays that fall within contract dates.
- Time Off Approval: Up to 7 days; must extend contract for full week off; no RTO during Sturgis Bike Rally (first 3 weeks of August).

If you get cancelled for low census, your food and housing stipend will not be paid for that shift and will be deducted from your paycheck, so if you work somewhere with low census you may want to look into an agency that doesn't do this.
