Description

This position is at a high census level 1 trauma center with the following ICUs:

• BICU
• MICU
• CVTU
• TNICU

The role involves providing care in an adult and pediatric burn trauma surgical ICU. Key responsibilities include:

• Primary RN Care model
• Nursing care ratios of 1:2 for critical care patients
• 1:1 nursing care support for burn trauma code 1 admissions and high acuity post-operative patients
• Invasive hemodynamic monitoring (at least every hour)
• IV drip titration
• Nurse-driven burn fluid resuscitation following the Parkland formula
• Ventilator management
• Continuous venovenous hemofiltration (CVVH)
• Hourly pulse and flap Doppler checks
• Initial debridement and dressing changes
• Conscious sedation
• Surgical recovery
• Epidural pump management

Required Credentials

• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• Licenses:

  • Current nursing license with Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start
  • License/Certificate Verification
• Testing:

  • Ascension Pharmacology Exam (minimum 80% score, updated every 3 years)
  • Ascension Specialty Exam (minimum 80% or national benchmark passing score, updated every 3 years)
  • Ascension Core Competencies (minimum 80% score, updated yearly)
  • Ascension EKG Exam (minimum 80% score, updated with new edition)
• Health Requirements:

  • MMR vaccination or positive IGG titer
  • Fit Test for respiratory protection
  • Hepatitis B vaccination documentation
  • Influenza vaccine documentation (seasonal)
  • Health Statement or completed physical exam
  • 2 Step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot) testing
  • Varicella vaccination documentation
  • Tdap vaccination documentation
• Background Checks:

  • Ascension Criminal Background Check Results
  • Ascension EPLS (Exclusion Provider List System)
  • Ascension Employment Verification
• Professional Requirements:

  • Resume or Profile
  • At least two professional references
  • Ascension Confirmation of Assignment
