A hospital in California is looking for an experienced Home Health nurse for a travel contract. The right candidate will have 2 full years of experience, hold an active BLS, and CA License.

Job requirements

2 full years of experience
BLS

Schedule information

Hours are flexible, usually M-F 8am-5pm, with a 1 hr lunch
Every 3rd weekend requirement
May have to take call, usually 2-4x per month for weekdays, from 5pm-8am.

Unit specific information

Unit: Home Health.
Shifts: 8 hour days.

Additional Details

BLS, COVID Vaccine Required
Patient load is based on productivity, usually about 5 visits per day, admission is usually equivalent to two patients.
EMR: Netsmart which was formerly known as Allscripts.
Charge Nurse: No
Nurse Aides: No
Holidays: they will work into holiday rotation.
Scrub Color: any scrub color.
Floor specific orientation: 1.5 - 2 weeks.
Common diagnosis / Types of patients: pt infusions, IV antibiotics, TPN, central lines, PICC lines, blood draws.
If the visit is related to a pediatric condition, they will be sent to ER for evaluation; most if not all of the patient population is not pediatrics.

My review isn’t about the recruiter at all. The position for Rochester, NY psychiatry, I don’t recommend this position. It turns into 60 hours of straight pay, they take advantage of their travelers, no weekends off, 5-6 days a week depending on when they want to put you on call. They schedule you 5 days a week to tell you it’s only 4 however your agency will pay you for the 60 hours, which isn’t what anyone signs up for. They don’t tell you that you have to work 60 hours of on call until you get there. You will work 5-6 days a week here.
