Job details

Ortho Neuro Surgical (ONS) nursing position in Rapid City, South Dakota, seeking experienced nurse with at least 1 year of nursing experience.
This is a mixed acuity unit involving Intermediate Care, Tele, and MedSurg.
Position involves working with a variety of patient types including Surgical, Ortho, Neuro/Spine, and General Medical.
Patient Ratios include PCU: 1:4 and CNA: 1:8.
Will accept a first-time traveler with more than 1 year of experience and EPIC system proficiency.

Job requirements

1 year of Intermediate/Stepdown Level RN experience.
Comfortable with MedSurg assignments and familiar with specific types of patients mentioned.
Skills include reading cardiac strips, chest tubes, trach care, NGT tube management, JP drains, line management, medication administration, and more.

Schedule information

6-week schedules with potential for weekend rotations.
No mandatory call time.

Unit specific information

Pod structure per unit - 8 patients per pod; staffed with 2 RNs and 1 Nurse Aide.
Charge nurses available without patient load.

Additional Details

Free parking available.
Must meet 90% compliance with monthly Pre/Post pain scoring audits.

My review isn’t about the recruiter at all. The position for Rochester, NY psychiatry, I don’t recommend this position. It turns into 60 hours of straight pay, they take advantage of their travelers, no weekends off, 5-6 days a week depending on when they want to put you on call. They schedule you 5 days a week to tell you it’s only 4 however your agency will pay you for the 60 hours, which isn’t what anyone signs up for. They don’t tell you that you have to work 60 hours of on call until you get there. You will work 5-6 days a week here.
