  • Over two absence occurrences in a 13 week contract is considered excessive and may result in termination of contract.
  • Unit: OR RN
  • # Suites: 22- Capability to go to 26 (3 separate floors)
  • Average # of cases per day: 50-65
  • Common Cases: GYN/Uro/Vascular/Plastic/Ortho (total hips/knees)/Neuro/Cardiovascular/Thoracic/General (Breast/HPB/Bariatric)/Sports Med (Hand/Podiatry)/Kidney (or kidney/pancreatic) transplants, ENT (FESS (sinus), septoplasty, cochlear implant, tympanoplasty, laryngoscopy in addition to soft tissue - thyroid/parathyroid. Large and complex cases. Robot-Davinci Xi (Gyn, Uro, General).
  • 16 total different service lines.
  • Experience or 'Must have' skills: Circulating duties- knowledge in multiple types of cases, ENT and DaVinci Xi (Gyn, Uro, General) experience required. Two years of experience preferred, updated 2.13.24 per contact RNs.
  • Traveler considerations: First time travelers okay, manager may consider travelers with less than 2 years' experience if a strong candidate.
    Schedule information
  • Shifts: 4-10 hour shifts, variable days and start times Mon-Friday. Start times- 0630/0900/1100.
  • No self-scheduling. Consistent start times for each week, with later start times on Tuesdays and Fridays for inservices and team meetings.
  • Call requirements: 1 call per 4 week schedule, begins at end of shift until 7am next morning on weekdays, and 24 hours on weekends (7am to 7am), managed by the scheduling manager.
  • No holiday call requirements.
  • Call response time: 30 Minutes, call room available.
    Unit specific information
  • Unit: OR RN
  • The OR team, including physicians, is helpful and willing to teach.
  • The environment is conducive to learning, with current staff and travelers often extending contracts.
    Additional Details
  • Scrubbing required for RNs: No
  • Charge Nurse/House Supervisor: Charge nurse available to run board.
  • OR techs: Yes, Scrub role
  • EMR: Cerner
  • Scrub Color/Dress Code: Teal - provided. Must follow AORN standards for dress code.
  • Unit/Department specific orientation: HR and OR leadership orientation for 1-2 days, plus 1-2 days on unit with a preceptor.

My review isn’t about the recruiter at all. The position for Rochester, NY psychiatry, I don’t recommend this position. It turns into 60 hours of straight pay, they take advantage of their travelers, no weekends off, 5-6 days a week depending on when they want to put you on call. They schedule you 5 days a week to tell you it’s only 4 however your agency will pay you for the 60 hours, which isn’t what anyone signs up for. They don’t tell you that you have to work 60 hours of on call until you get there. You will work 5-6 days a week here.
