- A hospital in California is looking for an experienced SICU/CVICU nurse for a travel contract.
- The right candidate will have 3 full years of experience, experience with open hearts
- All candidates must have experience recovering fresh hearts directly from the OR within the last 6 months.

- Must have experience recovering fresh hearts directly from the OR within past 6 months
- Common diagnosis / Types of patients: Must have general medical & surgical ICU experience in addition to CVICU experience for this unit.
- TAVR, Impella, IABP, recovering fresh hearts immediate from the OR, Lumbar drains, Swanz, manual hemo experience preferred.
- STEMI, AAA, Hypothermia, sepsis, any MedSurg ICU patient, but more focused on CV & CT patients.
- No CRRT.
Job requirements
- Contract is for an unmentioned duration, possibly 13 weeks
- Shifts: 12's: 7 - 7:30. This unit does not do self scheduling.
- Time off requests need to be requested prior to the contract.
- Block scheduling is not guaranteed, but if it works with schedule they will allow it.
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend; additional based on the needs of the unit
- Holidays: 2 out of 3 for major holidays (winter holidays); other holidays as perm staff rotation
- Floor specific orientation: 1 shift with a preceptor

- Number of beds: 10 beds
- Ratios: 1 to 1 or 1 to 2
- EMR: Cerner
- High acuity, fast-paced unit
Unit specific information
- ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS required
- ***CERNER EXPERIENCE REQUIRED***
- ***Must have experience recovering fresh hearts directly from the OR within past 6 months***
- ***ALL MYJOURNEY MODULES NEED TO BE COMPLETED PRIOR TO ARRIVAL. TRAVELER WILL BE PUSHED BACK IF ALL MODULES ARE NOT COMPLETED. NO EXCEPTIONS***
- Charge Nurse: Charge Nurse 24/7 - no patients unless absolutely necessary.
- Also have a resource nurse 24/7
- Nurse Aides: No techs, but have patient care support staff/unit clerk/secretary
- Scrub Color: Navy blue with specific guidelines
- Tele: Phillips central monitors, hard wired in each room
- Vents: Types specified, Transport vent is LVT
- Intensivist in house 7a-5p then on-call after hours
- IV Team: No
- RT 24/7: Yes
- Pharmacy 24/7: Yes & Omnicell
- Floating: Only to the other ICUs or to ER for inpatient ICU holds
- This is a very high acuity, fast paced unit, Must be flexible.

My review isn’t about the recruiter at all. The position for Rochester, NY psychiatry, I don’t recommend this position. It turns into 60 hours of straight pay, they take advantage of their travelers, no weekends off, 5-6 days a week depending on when they want to put you on call. They schedule you 5 days a week to tell you it’s only 4 however your agency will pay you for the 60 hours, which isn’t what anyone signs up for. They don’t tell you that you have to work 60 hours of on call until you get there. You will work 5-6 days a week here.
