Position Details

General Information

- Years of Experience Required: 2 years
- First-time Travelers Accepted: Yes (must be separated for 1 year if previously a permanent staff)
- COVID Vaccine Requirement: Yes (exemption process available)
Patient Care
Patient Types:
- Telemetry
- Med/Surg
- Cardiac
- AFib
- Post-surgical
- Cholecystectomy
- Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
- Diabetics
- Post-cath lab
- GI issues
Patient Ratios:
- RN/LPN: 1:5-6
- CNA: 2/shift days; 1/shift nights
Required Certifications
- Telemetry RN:
- BLS
- ACLS
- NIHSS (preferred)
- LPN:
- BLS
Required Skills
- General Skills:
- EKG competency exam (required prior to arrival)
- IV skills, NGT, PEG, PCA, wound vacs, chest tubes, drains (JP, DAVOL), PICC, midlines, TR Band, dressing changes, cardiac strip interpretation, non-titrating cardiac drips
- LPN Duties:
- Similar to RN, except administering IV push medications
Unit Support
- Charge Nurse: Yes (takes patients with a lightened load)
- Phlebotomy: Available for draws unless a line is present
- IV/VAT Team: PICC Team
- Resource Nurse: Head Nurse and Educator (M-F)
- RT: Available 24/7
- Hospitalist: Available 24/7
- Therapies: OT, PT, ST available 7 days/week
- Telemetry Monitoring: Centralized telemetry tech at Nurse Station
- Nurses on Unit: 4-6 per shift
Charting System/Equipment
- EMR: Meditech
- IV Pumps: Alaris
- Medication Dispensing: Pyxis
Orientation and Scheduling
- Orientation Duration: 1-2 days
- Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend
- Work Schedule: 4 days one week and 3 days the next (mandatory)
- Time Off Requests: Up to 7 days (must extend contract for any full week of RTO)
- Blackout Dates: Halloween 2024; Black Friday 2024
- Holiday Expectations: Work 2/3 major holidays
