Job Opportunity: ICU Nurse at Chandler Regional Medical Center, Arizona
Position Overview
- Specialty: ICU (Intensive Care Unit)

Requirements
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of recent ICU experience (no exceptions).
- Experience must include either neuro or cardiovascular (CV) care.
- Certifications:
- Active BLS, ACLS, NIHSS.
- AZ license or compact license (TNCC preferred).
- Exams:
- Pass a dysrhythmia exam upon offer (2 attempts max).
- Pass/fail Sim Lab on Day 1 of orientation (study guides provided).
Unit Details
- Surgical ICU:
- Beds: 32
- Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:2, 1:1
- Common Diagnoses: Level 1 trauma, falls, gunshot wounds, blunt trauma, motor vehicle accidents, trauma patients over age 15, craniotomies, specialty neuro-surgery cases, CVA, COVID, sepsis, ARDS.
- Titration: RNs required to titrate drips (e.g., Propofol, fentanyl, versed, etc.).
- Support Staff: No nurse aids; only used for sitters and as Health Unit Secretary.
- In-House Support: Hospitalist or Intensivist available 24/7, RT in ICU 24/7.
Scheduling
- Shifts: Self-scheduling available; manager may balance shifts as needed.
- Weekend Requirements: Typically every other weekend; may require up to 3 weekends a month if unit is busy.
- Holiday Requirements: May have 1 holiday off during the assignment.
- Floating Requirements: Float to telemetry with a 1:3 or 1:4 ratio as needed.
Additional Information
- Dress Code: Navy scrubs.
- Orientation: 1-2 days specific to the unit/department.
- Additional Notes:
- Expectation to float between all 3 ICUs (SICU, Medical ICU, and overflow).
- First-time travelers are welcome, but must have the required experience.
