Orientation/Education Hours: Orientation/education hours are not guaranteed during the first 2 week of your assignment. Expect 25+ hours.
A hospital in Washington is looking for an experienced MedSurg/Tele RN for a travel contract.
The right candidate will have 2 full years of experience, hold an active BLS, ACLS and WA License.

Job requirements

2 full years of experience as a MedSurg/Tele RN
Active BLS
Active ACLS
Active WA License or Compact License

Schedule information

12 Hours shifts (Days = 0700-1930, Nights = 1900-0730)
Weekend Requirement: Every Other
Holidays: Yes

Unit specific information

Nurse Aides typically 4-5 per shift
Ratios: 5:1
Nurses are responsible for reviewing Tele monitor strips
Common diagnosis/Types of patients include: CHF, COPD, Cellulitis, ETOH Withdrawal, Kidney, Dementia
Do nurses read strips? We have monitor techs, but nurses are responsible for reviewing.
Drips include: Heparin, Cardizem, Insulin (Not DKA protocol), Narcotics (Comfort)
Vents: No
Hospitalist or Intensivist in house: Yes
IV Team: Cross Shift SWAT team to assist
RT 24/7: Yes
Pharmacy 24/7: Yes
Floor specific orientation: Yes

My review isn’t about the recruiter at all. The position for Rochester, NY psychiatry, I don’t recommend this position. It turns into 60 hours of straight pay, they take advantage of their travelers, no weekends off, 5-6 days a week depending on when they want to put you on call. They schedule you 5 days a week to tell you it’s only 4 however your agency will pay you for the 60 hours, which isn’t what anyone signs up for. They don’t tell you that you have to work 60 hours of on call until you get there. You will work 5-6 days a week here.
