- A hospital in Arizona is looking for experienced nurses for a travel contract for their MS/Tele float pool. The right candidate will have 2+ years of current tele experience, an active BLS, ACLS and AZ license or compact. TRAVELERS MUST BE ABLE TO TITRATE DRIPS!! There will be frequent floating to the sister facility, Mercy Gilbert. Travelers are required to pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to starting (2 max attempts) and will take a pass/fail Sim lab on day 1 of orientation. COVID vaccine is required or declination form with supporting documentation from clergy or MD.
Job details
- Travelers will need to pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to start (WITH 2 MAX ATTEMPTS), within 48 hours of offer.
- There is also a pass/fail Sim Lab on day one of orientation (study guides will be provided with first day instructions). If traveler fails Sim, they will be sent home and made a DNU
- Floating is required. Depending on skill level, nurses will float to ICU, Cardiac Tele, as well as all Tele units, MedSurg, any & every holding area. Notification of campus and unit given 1.5 hrs prior to shift start.
- Floating to different units mid-shift can happen. Rare to float to another campus within a single shift, but possible. The distance between the 2 campuses is 9 miles. Must clock-out when leaving one campus then clock-in when arrive at the other campus.
Schedule information
- Floating is required to similar or lower acuity units based on skill level, which could include ICU, Cardiac Tele, MedSurg, and all Tele units.
- Most units require every other weekend work and a varying number of weekend shifts per 4 week period.
- Uniform is navy scrubs.
- Floor specific orientation for 2 days on the floor is required.
- Units range in size from 28 to 32 beds and encompass various specialties such as CV Tele, Neuro, Ortho, Surgical, Oncology, and general MedSurg.
Unit specific information
- MUST BE ABLE TO TITRATE CARDIAC DRIPS!!
- Travelers are required to pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to starting (2 max attempts), and will take a pass/fail Sim lab on day 1 of orientation.
- Floating would include between Chandler & Mercy Gilbert campuses.
- Every other weekend work is required.
- Floating to similar or lower acuity units.

My review isn’t about the recruiter at all. The position for Rochester, NY psychiatry, I don’t recommend this position. It turns into 60 hours of straight pay, they take advantage of their travelers, no weekends off, 5-6 days a week depending on when they want to put you on call. They schedule you 5 days a week to tell you it’s only 4 however your agency will pay you for the 60 hours, which isn’t what anyone signs up for. They don’t tell you that you have to work 60 hours of on call until you get there. You will work 5-6 days a week here.
