Job details

Hospital in central Nebraska is in need of a traveling inpatient rehab nurse.
This is a ten bed unit and the nurse will be required to work twelve hour shifts.
Nurse must be flexible and willing to work charge, holidays, and float if needed.
The assignment will be for night shift and 13 weeks in length.

Job requirements

BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required.
Experience in rehab helpful.

Schedule information

Twelve hour shifts.
Night shift.
Charge nurse: yes, will be oriented to charge.

Unit specific information

Unit size: 12 beds total.
Shift times: 1830-0700.
Weekend: Every third.
Self Scheduling.
Float: Yes, any area that would have a med surg assignment or would benefit from task assist help i.e. passing medications, patient care etc.
Qualities for new hires: Qualities of someone that would be well on rehab is someone who likes to work within a team structure. It is a very rewarding floor being able to be a part of the patients' rehab recovery and seeing the great progress that patient make during their stay. It is a smaller unit so it really feels like family and there is a close bond with all of the nursing and therapy staff.

Additional Details

ACLS Preferred.
WILL NOT APPROVE BLOCKED SCHEDULING OR SAME SCHEDULE/SHIFTS, MUST BE FLEXIBLE AND WILLING TO FLOAT AND WORK WHEN NEEDED.
Common diagnosis: Stroke, brain injury, trauma, ortho.
IV Pumps: Alaris.
Specialty Equipment available: fall prevention equipment.
Unit Challenges: All of the rehab patients need physical assistance so it is a very hands on floor that involves a lot of transferring patients. There are bursts or surge times of work first thing in the morning and again in the evening with medication needs and preparing the patient for the therapy day.

My review isn’t about the recruiter at all. The position for Rochester, NY psychiatry, I don’t recommend this position. It turns into 60 hours of straight pay, they take advantage of their travelers, no weekends off, 5-6 days a week depending on when they want to put you on call. They schedule you 5 days a week to tell you it’s only 4 however your agency will pay you for the 60 hours, which isn’t what anyone signs up for. They don’t tell you that you have to work 60 hours of on call until you get there. You will work 5-6 days a week here.
