Description
Our Patient Population:
- The Ventilator Telemetry Medical unit at St. Luke's Medical Center is the only unit outside of an ICU that cares for ventilator dependent patients. Provide nursing care to a diverse patient population with respiratory issues including complex health conditions: ventilator dependency, heart failure, diabetes, COPD, wound care, infections, cellulitis, telemetry, and much more.
- This unique unit provides an excellent opportunity to develop a strong foundation and skills with a higher acuity of ventilated patients and the complexities that these patients experience pathophysiologically, pharmacologically, and post acute care. This is a great unit to develop skills as a new RN and a great precursor to those who may seek critical care nursing in the future.

- Full Time 12-hour or 8-hour shifts with weekend/holiday rotation (and/or Weekend Program)
Develop and expand your practice with the following:
- Skills you will develop: Telemetry, ventilators, lab intrepretation and anticipation for vent dependent patients, medically complex patients due to long standing supportive care.
- Nurse Residency and Preceptor directed orientation.
- Continuity of patient care through 12-hour shifts, patient centered care and team minded support.
- Become a valued member of a highly skilled, resilient, and versatile nursing team committed to ensuring the delivery of quality and compassionate healthcare to diverse patient populations.
- Develop collaborative relationships with a resourceful multi-disciplinary team.
- Coordinate comprehensive patient care through the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
- Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the team member practices.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
Education Required:
- Completion of an accredited or approved program in Nursing.
Experience Required:
- New Nurse Grads, Newly Licensed RN's and Experienced RN's Welcome!
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently throughout the workday.
- Must be able to:
- lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist.
- lift up to 20 lbs. over the head.
- carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.
- Must be able to:
- push/pull with 30 lbs. of force.
- perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
- Position requires use of foot pedals on carts or machines.
- May be exposed to chemical and hazardous waste as well as blood and body fluids and communicable disease. Therefore, protective clothing and equipment must be worn as necessary.
- Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine hand manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures/functions.
- Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
