Location: Inova Fair Oaks
The Sonography Special Imaging Clinical Supervisor administers sound patient care practices, policies, and protocols according to hospital/department policies and procedures to ensure the safety of patients. Demonstrates leadership and independent judgment skills necessary to support an effective work environment. Maintains equipment, exam rooms, and work areas in a neat and safe condition to ensure the safety of patients and staff. Provides clinical services according to imaging practice standards and acts as a resource to Sonography Students and other Sonography Technologists to ensure optimal departmental functions.
Responsibilities:
- Explains procedures to patients/families and answers any questions to ease patients' anxiety and ensure the safety/cooperation of patients. Communicates effectively with patients to obtain a clinical history from patients or patients' charts to assist medical staff in optimizing performance and interpretation of examinations.
- Assists medical staff in performing a variety of exams by utilizing department policies/protocols, isolation precautions, and sterile techniques as required. Ensures that infection control standards are met to ensure the safety of patients and team members. Demonstrates proper care and aseptic cleaning of all patient-related equipment by following established infection control guidelines to ensure quality patient care is administered at all times.
- Recognizes clinical and/or emergent situations that may interfere with exams and takes appropriate action to resolve them and produce the most desirable outcomes.
- Coordinates, evaluates, and participates in divisional/departmental education and annual competencies.
Requirements:
- Certification - ARDMS, CCI or ARRT certification registered. Must have a Radiologic Technologist - Vascular Sonography RVT/RVS/VS with a specialty in Vascular or Neurosonology or RDCS/RCS with a specialty in Adult Echo, Fetal Echo or Pediatric Echo or RDMS/ARRT with at least two sonographer specialties (i.e. OB/GYN, Breast, AB); Basic Life Support (BLS) upon start
- Licensure - None required
- Experience - Five years of experience as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer in a hospital/healthcare environment

- Education - Graduate of an accredited school/program of diagnostic medical sonography in English; organizational and analytical skills
