Job Summary and Qualifications

The registered nurse provides clinical and administrative support to the program. The RN performs therapeutic measures prescribed and delegated by the physician. Participates in patient education and rehabilitation and provides interpretation of treatment to the patient and the patient’s family. The RN coordinates unit activities and assures accountability of all assigned tasks.

What qualifications you will need:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Professional Nursing required
  • One year of psychiatric inpatient experience is preferred
  • Experience or education with a focus on crisis stabilization, the age specific needs, and, knowledge of chronic mental illness and chemical dependency is desirable
  • Current RN licensure by the State of Texas or from a Compact State if you declare the Compact State your Primary State of Residence required
  • Current American Heart Association Healthcare or American Red Cross BLS required
  • Must complete restraint and seclusion training as well as techniques to address aggressive or threatening behavior (as outlined in Rule 415.257 of the Texas Administrative Code) prior to assuming direct patient care responsibilities, if the employee does not provide proof of current certification
