SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Peer Support Assistant uses their own unique, life-altering experience in order to guide and support others who are in some form of mental health recovery. Works in conjunction with highly trained and educated professionals. They fill a gap by providing support from the perspective of someone who has first-hand experience, something that professionals cannot learn from training or education.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

  • High School Diploma.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of related work experience.
  • Act 31 training completion required within 45 days of hire.
  • Peer Specialist Certification or enrolled in training to obtain certification within 6 months or hire.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):

  • Certified Peer Support Specialist designation preferred.
