Hershey Medical Center and Penn State University College of Medicine is seeking an academic surgical pathologist, non-tenure track, clinician-educator or clinician-scientist, open rank. We are a growing subspecialty practice with annual surgical pathology volume of approximately 45,000 cases at the quaternary care academic hub: the Hershey Medical Center, Cancer Institute and Children’s Hospital. Penn State Health is a multi-hospital system that will encompass 4 separately staffed regional community hospitals by mid-2022. Candidates with fellowship training or significant experience in Gastrointestinal/liver, breast, bone & soft tissue, and pediatric pathology are of most interest for this position. Most faculty members do practice in more than one subspecialty. The successful candidate will practice at Hershey Medical Center.

The successful candidate will join a strong, collegial department of 40 faculty in Anatomic, Clinical and Experimental Pathology, with a new Division of Molecular Pathology and Cytogenetics forthcoming. The department has a fully accredited residency program of 16 positions, with 4 ACGME-accredited fellowships. Faculty participate actively, with several leadership roles, in undergraduate and graduate medical education and graduate school teaching. The COM enrolls 150 students per class and boasts an innovative curriculum. New educational space is in the planning phase. Clinical, translational and basic research is thriving. Support for collaborative and independent research, including intramural funding, professional development programs, and faculty mentoring is provided. Board-certification or eligibility in Anatomic Pathology or Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and eligibility for medical licensure in Pennsylvania are required for the position. The position does not offer J1 waiver or H1B sponsorship.
