SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Join our team as a Cardiovascular Surgical Technologist and play a crucial role in supporting cardiovascular surgeries within our calm and collaborative operating room environment. As a key member of our surgical team, you will assist surgeons and nurses in delivering high-quality patient care during complex cardiovascular procedures. Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing the operating room for cardiovascular surgeries, ensuring all necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies are sterile and readily available.
- Assisting the surgical team during procedures by passing instruments, sutures, and other supplies as needed.
- Maintaining a sterile field throughout the surgical procedure, adhering to strict aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
- Anticipating the needs of the surgical team and proactively assisting in troubleshooting equipment or procedural issues.
- Collaborating closely with nurses, surgeons, and other team members to optimize patient outcomes and ensure a safe and efficient surgical experience.
- Participating in the cleaning and restocking of the operating room following procedures, in accordance with established protocols and standards.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S) :
- Completion of an accredited surgical technologist program and maintains a surgical technologist certification; new graduates of accredited surgical tech programs may obtain certification within six months of graduation.
- Completion of an appropriate training program for surgical technology in the US Army, Navy, or Air Force.
- Previously employed to practice surgical technology by the hiring Penn State Health (PSH) healthcare facility on or before December 29, 2020, or had been employed to practice surgical technology as the primary function at another healthcare facility at any time during the two years prior to December 29, 2020.
