    About this unit:

    Cardiac Telemetry nurses assess acute changes in patients. They monitor and analyze the heart rhythm of patients, interpret ECGs, note arrhythmias, and intervene in emergency situations. They have high-level critical thinking skills, vast clinical knowledge, and are able to stay calm under pressure. Our Cardiac Telemetry unit is unique in that our nurses take care of patients recovering from open heart surgeries, heart catheterization with stent placement, ablations, pace maker/AICD placement, cardiovascular surgeries and we are a comprehensive stoke/stemi facility.

     Who are we

    • Two separate 29-bed units, specializing in the care of cardiac patients

    Types of patients we care for

    • Acute and chronic heart failure
    • Electrophysiology (pacemaker, ablation)
    • Structural heart (mitral clip, TAVR, TMVR, watchmen, valve angioplasty)
    • Post operative day one open heart surgery patients
    • Post cardiac catheterization

    Working in the cardiac progressive care units is a great way to build your critical thinking and skills. Nurses from our departments grow into areas such as ICU, cardiac cath lab, EP lab, or leadership. The leaders of these departments work with you to ensure that they understand your goals and provide you with opportunities to learn more about positions you may be interested. We work collaboratively with other departments in the facility to ease any transition you are interested in making. Typically nurses are able to successfully progress to other positions or departments in 18 to 24 months. No matter what your goal is, your leader will take an active approach to help you achieve it.

    Responsibilities:

    • Under the general supervision of the unit’s director or designee the Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC) assumes responsibility for direction and coordination of all functions in the unit on his/her designated shifts.
    • In collaboration with other members of the management team, this individual is responsible for the ongoing assessment of the quality of patient care services provided in unit.
    • Assumes responsibility for direction and coordination of all functions during the designated shift.
    • Functions as a resource person for staff member and assists in necessary education of individual members of the nursing staff.
    • Assumes responsibility for the overall quality of nursing care provided when s/he is on duty.
    • Makes decisions regarding activities with these areas based on Administrative Operational Standards, Nursing Administrative Standards, Human Resource Standards, and Standards of Care for the unit, in collaboration with other members of the management team.

    Requirements:

    • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
    • Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice and/or has an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation.
    • BLS & NRP certification required and maintained. ACLS preferred.
    • Activity in professional organizations encouraged.
    • Two (2) years of clinical practice in the clinical specialty of his/her unit and leadership/ management experience is preferred.
