Description
Basic Purpose Of The Job
The Cardiovascular Technologist in the Cath Lab performs satisfactory procedure in the Cath Lab utilizing ionizing radiation in a safe and appropriate manner. Oversees the entering of patient charges to assure accuracy and timeliness. Deals effectively and pro-actively with physicians. Work collaboratively with other members of the management team for effective patient care.
As the CV Technologist in the Cath Lab acquires expertise in the performance of test procedures, he/she will also accept responsibility and accountability of being in charge in the absence of leadership.
The CV Tech must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to interact with various ages of clients served in the course and scope of his/her job duties. These age populations may include pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric. This position does require direct patient care and interaction with family members. Assessment of the skills necessary to communicate with various age populations is addressed on the corresponding competency assessment.
Essential Job Functions:
The CV Technologist in the Cath Lab must have an understanding of the principles and procedures utilized in the Cardiac Cath Lab and be able to:
- Insures safety of the patient while scrubbing, circulating and monitoring.
- Demonstrates consistent ability to communicate changes in patient condition to the physician.
- Demonstrates consistent ability to utilize supplies and inform the physician of any potential for patient harm.
- Insure accurate pressure data is collected during procedures.
A. Following departmental policy when entering procedure information into the McKesson Hemodynamic Monitoring system.
B. Insures that all paperwork is completed prior to the patient being transferred from the department.
C. Transfers data to the database at the completion of the case and confirming data is archived.
D. Insures all image files are also archived in the DICOM server.
E. Completes measurements and insures accuracy of the data.
- Enters patient charges in an accurate and timely manner.
- Works collaboratively with other physicians and other staff for optimal patient care.
