Description
As a Phlebotomist for Community Health Partners, you'll be essential in performing venipunctures, skin punctures and blood culture collections. Community Health Partners – part of Community Health System – helps primary care physicians and specialists manage their practices. In this role, you will be responsible for instructing patients on the collection of lab testing, including collecting, receiving and transporting specimens.

Responsibilities:In your role, you will:
- Appropriately identify patients and collect blood specimens via venipuncture and/or skin puncture. Applicable regulations, policies and procedures for specimen collection and labeling are followed to ensure a complete and accurate specimen for testing.
- Utilize appropriate techniques during specimen collection and transport to maintain specimen integrity and minimize specimen rejections due to hemolysis, clotting, QNS, etc.
- Perform data entry of test requests, test information and patient information into the computer in an accurate and timely manner.Correctly performs all functions relative to computer entry of patient information, tracking lists, work lists, test orders and reporting of test results according to regulatory and department policies and procedures.
- Maintain Laboratory environment as required by regulatory agencies. Adhere to all safety procedures and uses proper protocol for handling specimens in accordance with infection control policies and procedures.
- Perform a wide variety of clerical support functions such as answering phones, processing mail requests, filing, reporting test results, resolving problems with lab orders and faxing of reports as needed. Paperwork is completed thoroughly with attention to detail.
- Serve as a resource to patient care staff. Assist in clarifying test requests, etc. Train and/or orient new Phlebotomy employees and students as needed to ensure an efficient and productive staff.
Education
- High School Diploma, High School Equivalency (HSE) or Completion of a CHS Approved Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Certificate required
Licenses and Certifications
- CPT - State of California Certified Phlebotomy Technician required or
- CPTII - State of California Certified Phlebotomy Technician II required
