Qualifications · Education: Advanced degree in Psychology or Social Work (LICSW). Depending on the program, patient population and billing, licensure and/or additional higher education and/or credentialing may be required. Experience in providing direct dementia care services and care management services. Skills/Abilities/Competencies Required Good clinical skills and good managerial skills and ability to work independently. Must possess a range of individual and group therapy skills and have experience with population to be worked with as well as familiarity with current scientific advances in the field. Must be able to communicate clearly in both written and oral English with supervisors, peers, clients and families. Must have the mental ability to observe and analyze behaviors, assess/evaluate behaviors and situations, communicate with staff, clients, Hospital's executive staff, and representatives of external agencies. Must have clinical expertise to ensure that clients receive effective and appropriate treatment. Familiarity with MA DMH regulations and guidelines preferred. Must have sufficient skill and ability to manage the daily business functions of the program as well as budget development and oversight. Must have sufficient competence with computer applications to effectively learn and utilize specific clinical and business applications used by the organization. May require interactions with other program directors within the geriatric psychiatry division. All employees must possess basic computer skills to use a variety of electronic or online systems for communication, clinical and administrative purposes. Must be proficient in providing care via virtual platforms. Required to complete electronic medical records training and demonstrate 80% accuracy on competency test within 30 days of hire. Under the direction of the Chief and Medical Director of the Geriatrics Division, the Program Leader oversees the clinical and administrative functions of the CMS Guiding an Improved Dementia Experience (GUIDE) Program. The Program Leader is particularly responsible for maintaining quality of care in intake and referral process, the oversight of the GUIDE clinical team, Supervision of the Care Navigators, reporting to CMS on the parameters required by GUIDE and oversight of quality data. The Program Leader is responsible for all activities of the program, in coordination with the Division Chief, Medical Director and appropriate MGB personnel. Program Director will assure that all clinical activities are evidenced based and meet or exceed community standards, and that staff meet the requirements set forth by CMS for the program. Responsible for the development and implementation of all general, emergency, and program-specific personnel policies and procedures necessary to ensure a safe, productive and therapeutic program that conforms to the regulatory requirements of GUID E. The Program Leader will also serve as liaison with the community partners and with GUIDE beneficiaries and their caregivers as indicated. Ensures that all policies and procedures are designed to comply with standards set by the hospital and regulatory and accrediting agencies. Program Leader must be knowledgeable about the clinical disorders the program treats, all emergency procedures; skilled in training and orienting staff as well as staff supervision and performance management. Program Leader must work to maintain a clean, safe environment for clients. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Specific Responsibilities/Tasks A. Development of the Program’s treatment philosophy, working closely with Divisional leadership, and operational policy and procedures. 1. D irects the planning, organizing, coordinating and monitoring of the Program’s clinical and administrative activities including the topics and content of the program daily schedule and group program to ensure high quality care and service to patients in compliance with all applicable licensing and regulatory standards. 0. C ommunicates information accurately to appropriate staff regarding issues pertaining to operational policies and procedures. 0. C ommunicates information about the program to visitors, other professionals and referral sources. 0. C oordinates McLean Hospital (Belmont, MA) administrative requirements with those of the Program. Responds to requests from other departments and federal, state, and community agencies. 0. A cts as liaison to other departments within McLean and partners within the community. B. Supervision and Management The Program Leader works closely with Divisional Leadership and others as indicated below. 1 Directly supervises positions such as Care Navigator, intake coordinators, and administrative staff to ensure that all clients are provided with effective programs that enhance their self sufficiency, empowerment, and inclusion. Works closely with Medical Staff and coordinates with the appropriate department heads of McLean Hospital in completing work performance evaluations for these positions and in managing any performance related issues or problems.. 2 Leads staff meetings and management meetings to ensure that communication systems are in place such that all staff are adequately apprised of all pertinent information. Routinely attends clinical rounds, and other clinical meetings to ensure the delivery of quality services. 3 Notifies appropriate individuals about problems relating to policy and procedures, physical environment, ethics, and community relations. 4 Develops and maintains a good rapport with referral resources, keeping them informed of critical concerns in a timely fashion. 5 Manages all triage and intakes to the GUIDE program and manages collaboration with outside providers, patients, and families for obtaining necessary screening information including discussion of fees and program structure. 6 Provides oversight to short-term group program clinicians 7 Generates reports germane to the running of the program. 8 Works closely with McLean Leadership, including CMO, CMIO and Strategic Planning to ensure that all administrative and reporting functions to CMS are conducted as required. 9 With Divisional Leadership, responsible for development of all program-specific policy and procedures in coordination with other McLean staff. Ensures ongoing staff orientation and education regarding policy and procedures, for existing as well as newly hired staff. 10 With the Chief and Medical Director, develops program policies and systems to ensure a safe and therapeutic environment for clients. Ensures staff training in these procedures to ensure implementation of appropriate behavioral programming and data collection. 11 Responsible for participation in weekly staff meetings and monthly meetings with MGB GUIDE advospry board and teams supporting GUIDE workflow. C. Training 0. O versees the development of annual training for designated staff as per requirements from regulatory and licensing agencies. 0. E nsures that the competency-based training program is implemented according to design and provides assessment of and feedback on training skills to relevant staff. 0. E nsures that all support staff have expertise in Microsoft Office and are capable of performing the relevant clinical and administrative support functions 0. P articipates in training to update skills. D. Personnel – for all staff under you: 0. S upervises selection of new employees; ensures completion of initial orientation for new employees through use of an orientation checklist. 0. E nsures that all staff receive ongoing supervision, support, and training through their supervisors. Schedules and leads clinical staff meetings. 0. I ntegrates McLean employee practices with supervision practices. Monitors implementation of appropriate personnel procedures. 0. E nsures all staff meet required credentialing standards and are licensed as appropriate. 5. I n coordination with department heads and personnel directors for McLean Hospital, oversees all disciplinary action taken for employees. E. Human Rights 0. M aintains confidentiality of all clients. 0. F ollows the ethical standards of McLean Hospital and DM H. 0. R eviews all incidents reports, forwards to QA and notifies relevant regulatory agencies when required. F. Program Promotion/Marketing 0. T he Program Leader assists in promoting a good public image of the Program. Assures a consistent intake and admissions process and tracks all caller information. 0. T he Program Leader develops systems to ensure activities of the marketing plan developed in collaboration with McLean Hospital Network Development Department are completed.
