Master of Arts or Sciences degree with a major in Speech-Language Pathology. Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). Massachusetts license to practice Speech-Language Pathology. Following established guidelines and protocols regarding the delivery of patient care; conducts diagnostic testing and provides therapeutic care to patients. This position will provide patient care, primarily based at MEE Stoneham located at: 1 Montvale, Stoneham, M A. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. P rovides comprehensive evaluations of speech, language and auditory functional listening skills; with amplification, pre-cochlear implant and post-cochlear implant for patients of all-ages. 2. E ngages in individual therapy for pediatric patients designed to improve functional listening skills and develop language to enhance future language learning and social-communicative competence. 3. D elivers a therapy program for adult cochlear implant recipients to improve auditory skill development and to maximize the benefit of cochlear implantation to meet everyday communicative demands. 4. I nterprets evaluation results and therapy outcomes into oral and written clinical reports to provide professional recommendations including treatment plan and discharge summaries 5. C ompletes documentation and billing for clinical procedures in a timely manner 6. M akes referrals to appropriate professionals as needed 7. P articipates in clinical research which may involve clinical trials, case study research, and database management following specific protocols of the study, as assigned. 8. F ollows all the standards developed for the position within JCAHO, quality care, infection control, and clinical competency requirements. 9. D emonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care appropriate to the age of the patients served in the dept. 10. D emonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the lifespan, possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to their age specific needs. 11. K eeps abreast of the field by attending educational seminars, preparing papers, reading journals and the like. 12. P rovides direct assistance to patients by helping them to move about in order to perform tests and rehabilitative services. 13. A dvances and demonstrates knowledge, skill and understanding of audiology services. 14. P rovides other clinic-related duties as assigned. 15. T rains and mentors speech-pathologists and others as assigned. 16. P articipates in internal and external education and professional staff development, as assigned. 17. P romptly engages MEE Clinical Emergency Response teams when necessary. 18. M aintains appropriate professional credentials; stays current within the field and provides a record of relevant continuing education.
