Associate's in Diagnostic medical Imaging technology, or equivalent required Bachelor's preferred ARDMS RDMS or ARRT (S) required Registered Vascular Technologist RVT and BLS within 90 days 3-5 years of advanced modality scanning experience in Sonography Interpersonal Skills sufficient to interact effectively with patients, patient families, departmental staff, leadership, medical staff, and other hospital personnel; present a positive and professional appearance and attitude; demonstrate flexibility and willingness to adapt to diverse roles as a departmental team member. Must possess analytical abilities necessary to effectively utilize advanced knowledge of imaging processes, assist in developing practices, protocols, reporting templates, and procedures, ensure compliance, and evaluate equipment. Familiarity with quality standards and processes to follow federal, state, and local regulations. Ability to practice independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative under pressurein various situations. Ability to adapt to changing paces (stressful situations) within the department. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to review systems, identify quality issues, and propose solutions to correct quality errors. Posses a basic understanding of DICOM, Networks, Image distribution, and requlatory requirements related to the modality. Ability to adapt to multiple work environments and flexibility to work from numerous locations, possibly multiple locations within a given week, across the enterprise. Must be aware of hazards within the department (i.e., ionizing radiation, MRI safety zones, etc.) and adhere to safety standards established by MGB and affiliates and regulatory agencies, ensuring staff are knowledgeable and comply with policies associated with department hazards.
The MGH Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist-Ultrasound, reporting to the MGH Radiology Quality Assurance Manager-Ultrasound, assists in facilitating the MGB Radiology quality assurance program for the modality of Ultrasound at MGH and across the MGB enterprise. The QA specialists will assist with reviewing, updating, and implementing scanning protocols. The QA specialist will also assist in establishing, developing, assessing, implementing, and monitoring all imaging quality to ensure consistent, standardized, high-quality imaging is delivered appropriately to the right patient at the right time and according to their individual needs across US imaging locations. Operations Support: Partnering with local leaders and subject matter experts (SMEs), the Ultrasound QA Specialist assists with the development, creation, implementation and sustaining standardized reporting templates, exam protocols, procedures, and practices for Ultrasound (US) across the enterprise. This role is crucial in supporting centralized enterprise solutions to reduce duplication, risks, and expenses, increase efficiency, and aide in areas of oversight for the full enterprise. The QA Specialist also attends meetings on behalf of the QA manager. Collaborating with site operations and vendors, the QA Specialist participates in applications training to ensure consistency of the imaging protocols and staff messaging, thereby supporting the enterprise in achieving its goals. Accreditation Compliance: In collaboration with local leaders, assists with the process for the American College of Radiology (ACR) initial and renewal accreditation on all applicable sonography equipment across the MGH and MGB enterprise; maintains equipment quality assurance to meet additional third-party agency requirements, including but not limited too: The Joint Commission (TJC), Centers for Medicare/Medicaid Services (CMS), Department of Public Health (DPH), etc. Technical Support: Assists the QA manager partnering with local leaders, modality experts, medical/service chiefs, and US operations to facilitate ongoing enterprise protocol standardization efforts; collaborates with staff, radiologists, department leadership, modality leadership, physicists and QA managers to ensure imaging protocols, image quality, and safety are optimized across the system. The QA Specialist collaborates with the QA Manager and vendors to collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative statistical data to identify and resolve technical issues or inefficiencies. Maintains scanning abilities as a resource to fellow sonographers. Analytics, Reporting, Monitoring: Daily/Weekly/Monthly/Yearly reporting on identified metrics (as required) and ad hoc requests, as needed, to ensure continuous quality across the enterprise.
