GENERAL OVERVIEW: The Nursing Administrator is a professional nurse responsible for providing administrative direction and leadership to nursing staff. S/he is directly responsible to the Executive Director, Clinical Nursing. The role requires clinical and management expertise and the ability to coordinate inter and intradepartmental activities. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Patient Care Organization
1. A
ssists with directing the operations of the Nursing Department on the off-shift.
2. C
ollaborates with the off-shift nursing resources to ensure quality patient care.
3. C
ollaborates with other departments to ensure resource availability for patient care needs on the off-shift, i.e., triaging AOC, BioMed, Occ Health (needlesticks)
B.
Quality of Care
1. S
erves as consultant and resource to staff and professional colleagues regarding administrative issues.

articipates in professional, institutional and community organizations.
3. W
orks collaboratively with other departments to monitor overall quality standards of the off-shift.

pplies theoretical and experiential knowledge of nursing to plan for needs of patients in collaboration with Primary Nurse.

mplements, reviews and revises patient care policies and nursing standards to ensure compliance of the nursing staff.
