Experience Minimum Required • Min of 2000 hrs. of clinical practice in the specialty area, 25% which has occurred in the last 3 yrs.
Education Minimum Required • BA or BS in Physical Therapy Training Minimum Required • Post professional certification/specialization in area of specialty supported by National Board Exam or successful completion of Fellowship/Residency in area of specialization.

The Clinical Specialist will assist the Rehab Team Leader with specialty program development & external marketing; participate in multidisciplinary rounds, provide formal & informal in-services /educational offerings for staff and the community; assess & track outcomes and develop plans, based on clinical outcomes & metrics and mentor peers.
In addition, this position demonstrates competency in the performance of duties and responsibilities related to patient evaluation; development of care plans; administration of therapeutic interventions and documentation of clinical care.
1. P
artnership and collaboration within specialty program. a. Provide formal and informal in-services or training sessions for appropriate staff. b. Participate in specialty clinical rounds as appropriate. c. Assist the Team Leader and/or Manager in the marketing of the specialty program outside of the department to physicians, providers, WDH clinic staff, and the community. d. Participate in a minimum of one community lecture, family or patient educational program/support group. e. Present a minimum of one educational in-service to clinical staff on agreed upon topic with the Program Specialist. f. Assist Team Leader and/or Manager in assessing and tracking outcomes. g. Assist Team Leader and/or Manager in Performance Improvement plans to address opportunities for improvement within the department based upon clinical outcomes and metrics. h. Participate in a minimum of one student teaching opportunity. i. Assist Team Leader and/or Manager in developing/updating protocols that are supported by evidence based best practices. j. Serve as a mentor to peers, and provide co-treatment/consultation on plans of care for peer's patients as needed. k. Provide Team Leader and/or Manager input on updating the inpatient and outpatient specialty clinical pathways. l. Maintains requirements that are necessary to keep specialization current. m.
Attends a minimum of 6 CEU's in area of specialty per year. n.
Majority of patient caseload is working directly with patients within given specialty.
